World Cup Group F Qualification
Germany were perfect in qualification, sweeping aside all teams and in only one game did they fail to win by at least a two goal margin. The teams to feel their wrath were Northern Ireland, Czech Republic, Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino. Blessed with great balance in the team, they are going to figure at the business end of the tournament proper. Their strength at both ends of the pitch was on show and they recorded an incredibly impressive plus 39 goal difference.
Group Stats = W10, D0, L0, 43F, 4A
Mexico negotiated the long process of Central and Northern America qualification. Once into the final part of the process they faced off against Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, USA and Trinidad and Tobago. Impressive in losing only one game, finishing five points clear of second and boasting the best goal difference. They are well experienced as a country at World Cups and should be able to perform respectably again some Summer.
Final Group Stats = W6, D3, L1, 16F, 7A
Sweden weren’t expected to make it to Russia. When drawn with France and Netherlands it looked a tough ask. Bulgaria, Luxembourg and Belarus were just there to make up the numbers and Sweden were expected to place third. The Dutch underperformed in a big way which allowed the Swedes to take second spot on goal difference, this in spite of losing three of their ten games. That meant they had to face four-time World Cup winners Italy in a play-off. They beat The Azzuri at home and played out a goalless draw in Italy to advance.
Total Qual. Stats = W7, D2, L3, 27F, 9A
South Korea made heavy weather of qualification to say the least. A breeze through their extremely weak preliminary group but once into their third and final part of the process they lost to China and Qatar. That lead to head coach, Uli Stielike walking the plank. Shin Tae-yong was promoted and the team managed to scrape through with a couple of goalless draws with Iran and Uzbekistan, the other team in their group was Syria. A massively underwhelming way to get to Russia but there they got. We don’t expect a big turnaround in performances or fortunes in June.
Total Qual. Stats (90min results) = W12, D3, L3, 37F, 10A
World Cup Acca Theory
We have to put our confidence and money behind the Germans here. Their form is very tough to pick holes in and can likely obtain seven or nine points in this group without hitting top gear. As a way to make the judgement pay, we need a value bet. At the time of writing this piece, we definitely have one. Step forward 10Bet who are offering a massive 10/21 (1.47) about them finishing top of the group. That price won’t last folks so fill your boots now!
Mexico are respected, definitely most likely to follow Germany through but there is little value in the current markets.
