World Cup Group H Qualification
Colombia went through from the South American qualification in fourth place. A tough assignment as always with a couple of genuine powerhouses in Brazil and Argentina to deal with. They ended with a two goal positive difference, they were expected to qualify and in doing so achieve a pass mark from us. Falcao isn’t as dominant as in previous years and there will be a lot of pressure on the talented Rodriguez to spur his team on. Currently marginal favourites to win the group but historically a much better team on home soil.
Group Stats = W7, D6, L5 21F, 19A
Poland impressed by topping their group of Denmark, Montenegro, Romania, Armenia and Kazakhstan. They were five points clear of the Danes by the time they’d completed their final match. One loss and a dominant (+14) goal difference over the ten games should give the Poles plenty of confidence this Summer. It wouldn’t be a surprise if their price to win the group shortens in the coming months, bar no negative issues with talisman Lewandowski.
Group Stats = W8, D1, L1, 28F, 14A
Senegal had a straight-forward time of it in their group of Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and South Africa. They won by five points and avoided defeat. They had actually lost a match against SA but the match was ordered to be replayed. Joseph Lamptey, the referee on that day was subsequently banned for life. Senegal have some recognisable names in their ranks, Gueye (Everton), Kouyate (West Ham) and of course the supremely talented, Sadio Mane (Liverpool). We expect the Senagalese will do themselves proud in Russia.
Group Stats = W4, D2, L0, 10F, 3A
Japan averaged two points a match against opposition of Saudia Arabia, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Thailand. That was a solid performance and the only real blip was a home loss to UAE. They will be competitive here and fancy their chances of progressing in what looks a pretty open group. In Okazaki of Leicester City, they have a striker who has netted fifty goals in one hundred and ten international games – that is an excellent goals per minute ratio.
Group Stats = W6, D2, L2, 17F, 7A
World Cup Acca Theory
We watched plenty of Poland and Colombia during qualification and were far more impressed with the former. The African and Asian form is harder to quantify but it is safe to assume that the qualification process for the Poles was a tougher task.
Lewandowski, who is wanted by all the top European clubs is not the only talent that Poland possess. Piszczek, Milik and Blaszczykowski are vastly experienced campaigners with the latter set to get his hundredth cap in the third group game against Japan.
World Cup Group H Betting Tips
Colombia look uneasy favourites for the group and we can take them on in a series of markets.
